Designed for families living in New Jersey, all of our classes are held in our Red Bank office. These are group, in-person classes led by our doulas, and we’re currently accepting clients with estimated due dates between October 2025 and March 2026.

Who We Are

At Philomena Birth, we believe that every birthing person deserves compassionate, evidence-based support that empowers them to make informed decisions. Founded by Mary Sefchek, a DONA Certified Birth Doula and Lamaze Childbirth Educator, Philomena Birth has supported over 400 families on their journey to confident, positive birth experiences.

Our Core Values

At Philomena Birth, our goal is simple: for you to feel informed, heard, safe, and deeply connected to your body and your baby throughout your birth journey.

We believe birth is a shared experience. That’s why we also focus on helping your partner feel confident and prepared, equipping them with the skills to actively support you during labor.

As your doula, we act as a bridge between you and your medical team — helping you understand your options, advocating for your birth preferences, and ensuring that your voice is always respected.

During labor, we provide hands-on comfort measures and natural pain management techniques, while guiding your partner on how to best support you. Our ultimate aim is that you and your partner walk into birth feeling calm, connected, and confident — every step of the way.

What’s included in our Birth Doula package:

5 Childbirth Education Classes: Prepare for labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

  • 1 Private 1:1 prenatal meeting: around 27-32 weeks

  • 1 Private 1:1 prenatal meeting: 36 weeks

  • Unlimited pregnancy & labor support

  • Postpartum visit

With a doula by your side, you gain a dedicated advocate and birth expert. Beyond emotional support, your doula provides practical assistance, from natural pain management to bedside education and facilitating skin-to-skin contact.
