In this moment, we explored how small phrases can have a big impact. Birth often moves quickly, and it can feel overwhelming. But pausing to ask questions or express a need is one of the most powerful things a birthing person—or their support person—can do.
Self-advocacy doesn’t mean going it alone. It means using your voice, even gently, to stay connected to your values. And when you have support in the room that encourages that voice—whether from a doula, partner, or nurse—you’re more likely to come away from birth feeling seen, heard, and respected.
